We use specific infrared (IR) lamps to solve that, but honestly? The heat is the easy part. The real headache is the electrical side of things. That’s why we don’t guess. Every single tube that leaves our shop goes through a rigorous gauntlet of voltage and insulation testing. 100% of them. No exceptions. Why we obsess over the testing Here’s the thing: when you cram high-wattage IR lamps into a tight oven, you’re asking for trouble. Electrical leakage or an arc-over can happen in a heartbeat. To stop that, we push each lamp way past its normal operating voltage. We’re basically stress-testing the quartz envelope and the internal seals to see if they’ll buckle. If a lamp fails? It goes in the scrap bin. It’s a lot cheaper for us to toss a tube now than for you to deal with a ground fault in the middle of a production run. The trade-offs you should know about We use high-purity quartz to keep your environment clean, and we usually spec these for a heavy hit of heat. But there’s a catch. Pushing a ton of wattage through a short tube puts a lot of pressure on your wiring and connectors. Before you plug these in, double-check your control cabinet and cabling. If they aren’t rated for the actual current draw, you’re looking at burnt-out terminals. Not a great way to start the day. Real-world tips for the shop floor We designed these to be simple drop-in replacements, but the magic is all in the seal between the lamp and the heater block. If that seal is sloppy, the filaments oxidize. Once that happens, your lamp’s lifespan plummets. When it’s set up right, you get a steady, predictable heat curve and the peace of mind that nothing is going to short out while you’re relying on it. One last thing—and this is important. Even though these tubes are electrical powerhouses, the quartz is fragile.Wear gloves. If you touch the glass with your bare hands, skin oils leave a residue. When the lamp heats up, those spots create “hot spots” that can actually crack the glass. Keep it clean, handle it gently, and they’ll last.
