
Stop worrying about particles in your Class 100 cleanroom
If you’re running a Class 100 (ISO 5) environment, you know the nightmare of particle shedding. One tiny flake from a heating element and your entire batch of silicon wafers or medical implants is trash. Most standard coils or resistive wires just can’t handle the heat—they start to outgas or flake off. It’s a constant battle. We take a different approach. We use high-purity quartz infrared lamps and gold-coated reflectors. No flakes. No dust. No headaches. Why gold? Most people use aluminum reflectors, but there’s a catch: aluminum oxidizes. Over time, that oxidation turns into microscopic dust that drifts right onto your workpiece. Gold doesn’t do that. It stays clean. Plus, it reflects infrared radiation at about 98% efficiency. That means the heat goes exactly where you want it—on the part—instead of soaking into your machine frame and heating up the whole room. The build quality We use fused quartz for the envelope because it can take a massive thermal shock without cracking. We also stripped out all the adhesives and organic binders during assembly. Everything is airtight. This keeps the halogen gas inside the bulb where it belongs and keeps the outside world out. A few things to keep in mind These lamps are powerful. Because the gold reflector is so efficient, your target temperature is going to climb fast. You’ll want to tweak your PID controllers so you don’t overshoot your target. And if you’re dropping these into an older setup, double-check your power supply. These high-wattage tubes pull a lot of current the second you flip the switch.
